Lake Oahe is home to a healthy catfish population, come see for yourself!
Catfish will stay in the shallow water longer than other species.
In the spring, you can usually catch them with night crawlers. Later as the water really warms up, they will be in the same depth as walleyes, but will be on the bottom of the lake and not suspended like walleyes.
You will find them back in the bays most of the year unless the water really gets warm and pushes them out deeper. We have caught them up to 15 pounds but the smaller ones are much better tasting.
